Our story
Founded in 2020 by our founder Becky at the age of 24.
What started as a hobby/business quickly gained momentum, and in June 2020, B.B’s Bakery officially came to life. The challenges posed by COVID-19 provided the push needed to take the leap and turn my passion into a full-fledged business. With dedication and determination, I took redundancy from my retail job and embarked on this exciting journey.
Since then, B.B’s Bakery has gone from strength to strength, delighting customers at markets and events across Suffolk and Norfolk. You can find us every Saturday at Newmarket Guineas shopping centre, Suffolk UK, where we bring our irresistible treats for everyone to enjoy.
Our commitment to excellence and our love for baking drive us to continuously innovate and create new flavours and experiences for our customers. Whether you’re looking for a special treat for yourself or a delightful gift for someone else, B.B’s Bakery is here to satisfy your cravings and bring joy to your taste buds.
Indulge in the delicious world of B.B’s Bakery and experience the magic of our handcrafted treats. Join us on this sweet journey, and let us delight you with our passion for baking.
Meet Becky
Hi! Welcome to B.B’s Bakery, I’m Becky or Bex to my friends and family. I founded B.B’s Bakery in 2020 after taking redundancy from my retail job. When I first started, I was baking out of my parent’s kitchen for markets and events. This gradually became a slight problem when I was getting busier, and my mum was struggling to find room to make dinner!! My dad then had the idea to convert one half of his garage into my work kitchen to give me my own space to work and so they could have their kitchen back!
I had looked at shops and units many times, but the cost of a small business was just not feasible. So, my dad giving up half of his garage was a massive turning point for me and the business!
Taking the plunge to go self-employed and start a business from nothing takes passion and determination. Is it easy- no, is it rewarding- yes. It took me 6 years to decide to start B.B’s Bakery, so it doesn’t matter when, but just do it if you have the passion.
Also, another reason for having your own business is if you, like me, don’t like being told what to do!! Be your own boss.
My advice is to just start! When I started markets and events, I had no clue what I was doing, and that’s okay. I had a £40 gazebo from Tesco that was so flimsy it was never going to survive a British winter! It broke at a market in the wind and torrential rain! I remember my mum trying to tie the bars of the gazebo together with her perfumed flowery scarf!! Let’s just say you learn fast when it comes to outdoor events.
